“I will do this.” And then what happens? “I will do that.” And then what happens? We do something and the people (and the system they’re in) respond. Then what happens? This expands our circle of now.
All games have constraints. We can deny them or we can work with them.
Systems contain feedback loops, and the loops often reward an early lead. It’s more productive to go faster now than it is to go faster later.
Constraints are a gift because they bring us something to lean against, and they give us the chance to focus.
The most interesting strategies happen at the edges, and the edges exist because that’s where the constraints are.
Studies show that detoxing from Facebook improves rational thinking and long-term happiness. Yet people still use it.
