Oh, to be a child again. To have minds and skin unblemished by life’s inevitable burns. Where every path holds possibility. Unstained. Unclaimed. Unjaded. I have seen much in my life. Traveled to remote countries. Met fascinating people. Eaten exceptional food. And yet I’ve learned that while those moments are enviable, a life of simplicity surrounded by the ones I love is the greatest luxury imaginable.
Whether we admit it or not, we women are so used to being underestimated and overlooked that we welcome any chance to win approval.
“I declare that you and I should spend the rest of our lives planning one trip a year. Girls only. Husbands and babies are all well and good, but there is nothing that replaces the unique comfort that is found in the company of a friend.”
Interestingly, by expanding my world, I’ve come to appreciate the small spaces in it.
