“Rule number one: obey your sire. Your life is in his hands until you’re trained.” “Obey my what?” Gripping the edge of the mattress, she chose her words carefully. “Back up a minute, Christian Grey. I don’t know what kind of kink you’re into, but Jane Anderson obeys no one. Got it?”
She narrowed her eyes, vowing to make this man smile if it killed her. Could vampires die? “Are you always this serious?” “This is a serious matter.” “Are all vampires this broody? Or is it just you?” His eyes tightened. “We retain our personalities from our human lives.” “Oh, so this Edward Cullen act isn’t an act? This is what you’ve always been like?”
It’s just my luck to get turned into a vampire by an Edward Cullen wannabe who has Captain Jack Sparrow as his mentor.”
“Holy shit, Edward. You didn’t tell me we were coming to meet the Volturi.”
“Thank the l—lady next door. Every time he touched me, I wanted to rip his clothes off. That’ll go away now?” Surprise widened Ethan’s eyes, and a bit of a blush reddened his cheeks. How cute. Wait a minute. She wasn’t supposed to be feeling attraction to him anymore.
“Did you just name my dick Vlad?” “It’s fitting. If the death sleep hadn’t pulled me under, I might have let him impale me.”
“I’m a master of words, Ethan, and they go a long way. But real emotional connections between people happen because of actions. You can’t change the past, but you can decide, right now, to change your future.”
“Nature is its own symphony.”
The room went so deathly silent, you could have heard a mosquito fart.
“You’re right. You’re way too hot to be Edward. Louie? Lestat?” She tapped a finger against her lips before snapping. “I’ve got it. You’re Elijah Mikaelson.”
