“They were great. His dad was a crafty old ass. He quoted the Bible too much, but he had a soft heart. Brought Beau a pride flag when he turned eighteen along with a whole speech about how he’d support our lifestyle, how happy he was that Beau found a man like me.” I snort. “I let Beau figure out how to explain that one to him, but it was cute.”
“Can you tell me what this says?” she asks. Then she turns around and pulls her dress up to her waist.
“This one says ‘Prepared this for you, buddy.’” I brush the left side, smiling wryly. “This one says, ‘Tag, you’re it.’”
“What does DAP mean?” she asks. I miss a step, stumbling slightly, then correct myself. I stare down at her for a second, then put my eyes back on where I’m going. “Jesus fucking Christ,” I mutter. She shakes her head, frowning thoughtfully. “No, I don’t think that’s it.”
“Oh look. Two submissives on their knees, Jasper. Is it everything you imagined?” Heather teases, though there’s none of the snarky undertone that usually comes with her jibes. Despite the gravity of the situation—or maybe because of it—I find myself biting back a snort at Jasper’s heavy sigh.
“Did I forget to make you a fucking friendship bracelet or something?” Lucky looks up from where he’s sprawled in the grass, dimpling. “Thank God you were the one to bring it up. I expected mine on Tuesday, bud. What’s the deal?”
Lucky laughs, ruffling my hair. “Beautiful, I know he’s a bit rough on the eyes, but screaming in his face is just rude.” Dom gives Lucky a dry look as I press a palm over my racing heart and huff. “Dom isn’t rough on anything except my behind.” Both of them pause, glancing at me,
“You shot your peace flag at us?” Lucky jumps up to go and examine the arrow, and he snorts a laugh. “You’re officially my new hero.” Bentley’s gaze swings round to Lucky, and the scowl fades into an appraising smirk. “I could be.”
I can’t breathe anything but him, and I don’t know if I can survive on it, but I know I can die happily for it.
“You’ve become my new best friend, pet, and I don’t know how it happened. I’m too fucking hard for you.”
The same things I want to live for . . . I think I’m willing to die for them, too.
