Loneliness won’t kill you. Violent men with guns? They might.
The greatest friends are those who stand with you against the dark. Protect them at all costs.
He might have a big sword, but if he doesn’t know how to use it, he’s no threat. (And if he does, just shoot him.)
You have to be the worst version of yourself to survive. Kill the weak. Strike from the shadows. Run from a fight. Leave your friends behind.
Kill every fucker who threatens what’s yours.
With a choked, frustrated sob, I press the trigger again, and nothing. “Safety’s on,” Jayk calls lazily. “Swipe the lever. It’s over the—” “Shut up, Jayk,” Dom snaps, striding toward me.
Understanding the human mind may save your life. But you won’t always like what you see.
“Because you came for me.” The words are a whisper, and there’s so much sudden emotion laden in her voice, in the taut lines of her face, that I feel my throat grow thick. “Always.” The word is a promise, binding as if I had scored my arm open to the bone and bled for it. I meet her eyes again. “Always, Eden.”
mutters to Eden. My lips quirk at that. “You tried to shoot her?” Jaykob exchanges a rare look with me. “Safety was on.” “Ah. Shame.”
For some wounds, there’s medicine. For everything else, there’s drunken bubble baths with friends.
And that truth has made Lucky about as charming as a rattler with a sore fang.
“Besides, he’s said before I could borrow his clothes.” “To wear!” I shake my head, lips twitching. “You know you’re messed up, right?” “And now you’re kink shaming me. Very uncool, Beau.”
“Well, if you’re done making Jesus cry, I have a present for you. Two, actually.”
“No! This perverted klepto needs to take a massive, toilet-cracking shi—” “Gross. Gross, Lucky. How you convinced two people to want to sleep with you, I don’t have the slightest clue.”
“Look, Beau, don’t make this awkward. You’re just not my type,” Lucky says sympathetically. “I think it’s the cleft chin. It’s too wholesome.”
“Sure you do,” he soothes, patting my hand. “This is just one friend bathing another friend under the steamy haze of candlelight. I’ll ignore the fact that this seduction scene is right out of a seventies porno.”
“Would you stop doing that? You avoid talking about him like you’re a nudist at a church fair.”
“Smooshey?” he teases. “Going steady? Well, gosh, Beau, I do think he’s peachy keen, but we haven’t gone out for milkshakes or anything.”
“Oh,” I croon, “I’m sorry, sugar pie. You havin’ a hard time gettin’ pampered?”
“I love that glare thing.” “No boners in the tub,” I order.
“Lucky, he carried you mostly dead through a firefight and then cried at your bedside—of course he assed about you.” I frown. That’s not right. “Assed. Asked.”
“Hey, you’re a doctor!” he exclaims as I gently push him back down. “Hope so, or you’re in a lot of trouble. I stuck a needle in your lung. You know how cool that is? I don’t get enough credit,” I lament. “Yeah, yeah, you’re very talented,”
“He doesn’t know about psychics; he knows about psychos.” He cracks up, then splashes me. “Pay attention!”
“The best place to protect me is from inside me.” Lucky blinks. “Beside me. I meant— Stop laughing.
Rangers Lead the Way. (Even when they shouldn’t.)
Don’t share your things. You’ll never get them back.
“You want to hide away from every piece of shit out there instead of fighting, then I’ll build you a damn fortress.” I grab her thigh and hitch it over my hip so I can line myself up with her pretty cunt properly. I fuck her against the tree through our clothes, and she gasps. “You need a monster to protect you from the monsters, then I’ll do the dirty work. My hands are already filthy with it.”
“But if you want to learn how to rip out their throats yourself, sugar, then I’ll show you how to fucking bite.”
I’m dining on princess tonight.
“Why are you such a jerk all of the time?” she snaps, and I give her a lazy smirk as I crowd her against the tree. My glossy crown rubs against her silky soft stomach, painting her in me. “Just how I’m wired, sugar. Just like you’re wired to pant for it.”
“Come get it, Miss Manners. Show me how you burn.”
“That make you happy, princess?” I grasp my dick and give it another rough stroke. “You want to inspect the merchandise before you claim it?”
She’s not a princess right now, or a librarian. She’s letting her monster out. Mine.
One way or another, she’s going to have to make a choice. Because I will never fucking share.
“Not as good as Jayk’s,” he says dryly, and I cringe.
“His appeal is boundless, I’m sure.”
“I’m going to kill her.” He glares at Dom. “She’s been on me since day one. I’m going to do it.” “Make sure you pack both stakes and silver bullets,” Jasper mutters into his tea. “We haven’t yet pinpointed her exact species.”
“Don’t froth over it. He still thinks she shits diamonds.”
The darkest place in the world is your own head. Don’t lose yourself to it.
“Are there not villagers somewhere for you to feast on?” Jasper bites out, though I feel his eyes hovering over me.
“Leave us be, you abhorrent harpy,” Jasper snaps. “Dominic, could you please . . .?”
Watch out for trees. They may appear out of nowhere.
Cuddle the pretty men. It might be your last chance.
“Hey there, darlin’.” His voice is a soft, low croon. “You up for a cuddle?”
“You are not playing that card. Injured beats Southern.”
“We’re pals.” His golden eyes flare like a lashing tail. “Aren’t we, buddy?”
When a gorgeous sadist brings you flowers, watch out for hidden thorns.
Nope. No. This isn’t sexy. This isn’t a how-do-we-orchestrate-a-sweaty-threesome conversation. Or a how-exactly-do-we-tell-Lucky-we-both-adore-him conversation. This sounds bad.
“Your cock belongs only to me, brat. You touch yourself without permission again and there will be consequences.”
“If you put her in my hands, dear boy, I will break her . . . and I will enjoy every moment of it.”
