Instead, I vowed to live my life with equal openness and trust as I did with E.S., repairing the damage by creating new proof points that the rewards of calculated vulnerability with strangers are worth the risk. Emily’s actions might have left me doubting myself and feeling angry, but I refuse to allow her to dampen the enthusiasm I bring to my relationships, even when they form in unconventional circumstances.
