“You’ll never hurt a female again.” I snapped Vorl’s thumbs back with a wrenching twist.

I leaned closer and hissed, “I think next time I’ll stay and watch what Norivun has planned for you.”
And a queen knew when to let her vengeance rise.
Because not even a king was above the gods’ wrath, and it was time I enlightened my father to that.
Wings as black as the night, with obsidian talons at their tips, scraped along the ceiling’s stone. Eyes glittering with savage victory zeroed in on me, and a surge of the prince’s devotion zoomed toward me on our bond.
“Do you always ask such asinine questions, my prince?”
“Ah, there’s that sharp tongue that I love so much.”
“Besides, you know I would never agree to be parted from you. I belong where you are.”
He didn’t speak for me, and I knew this would be how we ruled our land. Both of us leading.
“She’ll remove it unless she wants to meet Lucifer.”
“Life is not going to be boring with you, is it, my love?” I grinned. “Not if I have anything to say about it.”
Nish jumped. “Ock! What in all the realms. The air is speaking to us!”
She laughed softly, and the sound was like a soothing balm to my soul.
Nish scowled. “I am human. I am not a sweet sustenance, thank you very much.”
Nish shrugged, then scowled. “I was considering it. I thought perhaps I would say she looks like a beautiful lollipop. Do you think that sounds flattering?”
“Fuck, you stink,” the hunter said quietly. “Has anyone ever told you that?”
Will you fight with a tyrant who would willingly feed you to that warlock or for a prince who’s fought silently for you his entire life?”
“Your parents would be scandalized if they knew I wanted to ravish their daughter in their living room.”
“Never in all of the winters that I’ve walked on this realm have I ever felt anything close to the love I feel for you, Ilara.”
“My king. I love you just as fiercely. You were made for me.”
She was mine. My eternal mate. My warrior queen.
And one day, if it was the last thing I ever did, I would ensure she wore the crown of the Court of Winter.
In a blur of mist and shadows, air and wind, we all disappeared as we ventured back to the castle—back to the heart of it all. Back to where our destinies would ultimately be decided.
“Serves the bastard king right.” Nish sneered.
Michas immediately glowered. “I wondered when I’d see you next.” The prince smirked. “Miss me?”
“Be quick,” Norivun added. Michas bowed mockingly. “As you wish, my prince.”
“See? Michas isn’t that bad. Anybody with decent taste in books is worth a second chance.”
Ryder snickered, then tapped his head. “It’s not my fault if I’m the most intelligent one here.”
“What? Maybe we’ll form a book club when this is all over. You never know.”
“But enough of him and what lies ahead. I would like to take my wife to bed.”
when I laid her on the bed and stared at the beautiful creature that was my eternal mate, I wondered what I’d done in this realm and the next to deserve the pure joy that was radiating through me.
“Exactly. With the Seary girls helping us, we’ll be all right.”
Every time she touched me, I longed for more.
Here, within this room, was what the Solis spoke of when they boasted of our infallible courage.
Blessed Mother, this female could control me with only a look.
A grin split my face when I imagined my mother and Nuwin being added to the mix. One thing I knew, family holidays would definitely be interesting.
More and more were willing to fight, and the female at my side—the mate that the gods had blessed me with—was ready to lead them into battle.
“Never again, fish boy.”
“I’d rather go to battle with the Lochen for the next millennia than allow you to ever touch her again.”
“This one’s for you, my love!”
I felt my magic flying toward me on the wind, like the whispered call of an old friend. I sang to it internally, sensing it as it barreled through the air from the obliterated gemstone.
Norivun was right. If he and I were to one day rule the Solis continent with crowns of ice, an icy heart was needed at times when difficult decisions were to be made.
He was so beautiful, a sculpted masterpiece of bone and flesh, and my primed body quickened in response.
“Like what you see?” A sly, arrogant tilt curved his lips.
“This is what I need right now.” He growled low in his throat. “You. With me. Naked.”
“I will worship your body until the day I die.”
“I’ll love you for eternity, Ilara. You’re mine. Mine to love. Mine to fuck. Mine to keep.”
for this one night we let the stars call to our souls and let the mating bond soothe our nerves. For this one night, everything was perfect.
