Idols, like cultural myths, are always disguised, if not totally invisible to the worshiper. If we could see their falsity, we would, of course, know that they are not God. So false gods, idols, must always dress up as a cultural virtue like success, love of country or hard work. These loyalties, either hidden or expressed, must be exposed for the gods that they are. Until this happens, there will be nothing really new and God’s dream cannot show itself.
