Rosalina stands in my doorway, and I don’t even have time to be frightened for her, because the instant I see her face, I know it’s the goblins who should be afraid.
“You were the first person to show me what love is supposed to feel like.” He stills his hands, his breath. The only movement is a slight quiver in his lips. Can you feel it now?
“My mates love you. They love you, Ezryn. For once, stop thinking about everyone else. And choose me.”
“I could pass a thousand seasons staring at you and never have my fill of your beauty. I want you when the cherry blossoms fall in spring, and during the balmy nights of summer. I want you on a forest floor filled with autumn leaves and shivering in winter’s snow.”
“Do you trust me?” I ask. “Always.”

She kisses the side of my face. “I love you, Farron.” “In the starlight way,” I whisper back.

Seeing her here, in my realm beneath the cherry blossom trees, a deep and ancient knowing fights against my logical mind. All the centuries of my life have passed with little meaning because I was waiting. Waiting to find her.
