“I’d advise caution against addressing a lady so familiarly. Some unfortunate girl might read into your words.”
Why couldn’t he act the scoundrel all the time? A brawny rogue who only cared about himself. It’d be so much easier to forgive.
“Inez,” he whispered, his voice hoarse, “it goes both ways.”
eyes lost focus, as if she had wandered into a dream. “Would there be anything better than seeing one of my stories, bound up in leather, and sitting on a shelf in a bookshop?”
“Do you kiss all of your friends like this?” I asked, breathless.
