I caught a whiff of cinnamon and sugar radiating off of her like it always did. It didn’t matter where we were or what we were doing, she forever smelled like dessert. And that wasn’t a complaint. Just another layer of her existence that I had grown to appreciate. She was the reason I’d miraculously developed a sweet tooth after twenty-nine years.
