“I don’t plan to let her go,” I confess, and Dax’s eyes widen. “I-I didn’t mean—I won’t be trying to…I just want her to be with me.” “Then be honest with her.” He folds his arms over his chest. “She said you’re not dating, that you’re just having fun. But, watching how affectionate you are with one another, I don’t think I agree with her. You talk a lot, but you’re comfortable with each other in silence too. What you have is deeper.”
“Show him how much you like her, that you can be different for her.” “But I have no idea if I can be different.” “You can. For the right girl, you can.” “Aw, you fucker.” He lunges at me, taking me into a bear hug. “Can I be your best man?” I push him away, hearing my phone buzz. “Get off me, Rodgers.”
“Only if you promise to make me your best man.” His face lights up with a huge grin as he stares at me in silence. He’s about to say something stupid, I have no fucking doubt. “Make me the godfather of your firstborn. Please.”
“Is it from Ava?” I turn my head and see him eyeing my phone with a curious expression. “Yes.” “Why honey?” Just fucking great. He saw how I saved her number. “Because she tastes like honey?” “Fucking nosy moron,” I hiss,
A second later, she gives it back to me. “Honey?” “Honey,” I confirm, draping a hand around her waist and pulling her to my chest. “Because you’re the sweetest girl I’ve ever had.”
“Okay, I still have time to eat my girl out—” I’m ready to dive in, but she pulls my hair, stopping me and making me groan. “Ouch. Never do that again.” “Or what, Winnie?” Realization dawns on me at once. She called me Winnie because I named her Honey. “Did you change how you saved my number?” “Maybe, Winnie-the-Pooh,” she teases, and I’m losing my mind.
“You’re going to sit on my face.” “I’m going to do what?” Her shocked expression is adorable. “Sit on my face.” “No.” “Yes.” “No.” And yet she takes off her hoodie, keeping on her black sports bra. “I’ve never done that before.” “Then I’ll be your first.” I extend my palm to her, my dick twitching with need. “And last.”
“What if I suffocate you?” “Then I’ll die in fucking heaven.”
“Come here and give me what I want.”
I don’t like seeing her touch herself—because I want to do it myself.
“Grab the headboard,” I murmur against her clit, and she does as I tell her. “Ride my mouth, Ava. I want to hear you moan.”
Ava makes me feel alive. She’s my favorite type of sweet. She’s my honey.
Fuck. My girl is perfect.
“Kiss me,” I demand, grabbing the back of her neck.
I never liked looking into the eyes of the girls I had sex with, but with Ava? I don’t want to look away. I feel like myself when I’m with her.
“Just like that, baby…just like that.” I grab her throat with one of my hands and squeeze it lightly.
I stop the car on the side of the road, unfasten her seat belt, and pull her into my lap. I just want her warmth, her closeness. I want to absorb her scent and drown myself in her. I need her way more than she realizes.
I honestly can’t wait to see her, and I want her to meet you too.”
“My father is hosting a party for his partners at the end of January. He expects me to be there—” “I’ll go with you,” she interrupts me, as if it’s the simplest question in the world. No hesitation, no holding back. “Really?” I start the engine again. “Yeah. Your father is clearly a real piece of work, and I don’t want you near him alone.” Ava tilts her head. “Will Helen be there too?” “Yes.” “Well, can’t wait to meet the bitch.”
she warned me that next time she was going to choose books for my mom herself. To say I was stunned is an understatement. It means the world to me that she’s thinking about coming to see my mom again, and that she cares so much about someone she’s never even met.
Twisted Love.
I had no clue what to expect when I decided to bring Ava with me, but I couldn’t imagine it’d be like this.
“I’m gonna miss you so much, Mom.” “Me too, Colt. Thank you so much for coming to see me, and thank you for bringing Ava with you. Watching you two together…it gives me hope that you won’t make the same mistakes as me and your dad, that you’ll never hurt the person you love.” I lean away and peer at her, my eyebrows furrowed. “The way you look at her says it all, baby. You love this girl.”
“I like her,” I clarify, and my mom just shakes her head. I swallow the lump in my throat, finding it difficult to concentrate. “I just…” “Just be yourself. I’m sure she’s the one for you. Call it mother’s intuition.” She stands on her tiptoes and kisses my cheek. “Merry Christmas, Colton. See you next week.”
there’s one thing I know for sure: I told Dax the truth. I’m not letting his daughter go.
“Choose Chloe. She’s your daughter.” “Officially, she has no right to be considered my heir,” he snarls, and I clench my jaw. “Her mother signed all the papers. You know that. Everything I have is yours.” “Should’ve thought about that before you knocked up your secretary.” “My secretary that you, not so secretly, were drooling over? My secretary that you fucked too?”
“I fucked her once. It was the worst sex of my life.”
“I need to know who the slut is that you’re planning to bring to my party—” “Call her that again, and you’ll never see me. Am I clear?”
She’s my personal addiction, sweet and spicy at the same time. An explosive cocktail, but I’ll be damned if I stay away for even a day.
being at her mercy is my favorite thing.
“You’ll be the only girl I’ll have my eyes on, that’s for sure.” “Good. I don’t want you to look at or think about anyone else.” I burst out laughing as I press the elevator button. “You think there’s space for anyone else in my head? You corrupted every brain cell I have.”
“Can’t wait to tear this dress off you.” “The words ‘tear’ and ‘this dress’ shouldn’t be in the same sentence, Mr. Thompson. I spent way too much money on it for you to ruin it,” she says, leaning her back against my chest.
“My my. What a beautiful girl you have here. Eric, your son definitely won a prize with this one.” “Not sure she’s his girlfriend,” my dad mutters under his breath. “He barely has time for his studies; he spends all of his free time on the ice. No girl will ever replace hockey in his heart.” “Depends on the girl,” I blurt out,
“Ava is my friend. We aren’t dating.” “Such a pity,” Helen purrs, still smiling like the Cheshire cat. “You always needed love and affection; it’s sad you can’t find it with girls your age. Or younger.” “He’s perfectly fine without a stranger telling him what to do or how to feel.” Helen’s smile fades as soon as Ava’s words leave her mouth.
“So, Ava, tell me about yourself. My son has never brought anyone with him. That makes you the exception.” “Because I am.” She grins at my dad, and I see his right eye twitch. Oh man, I’m going to enjoy this party way more than I thought. Bringing Ava with me was the best decision ever.
“Your girlfriend is gorgeous, Colton,” he tells me with a smile once Ava has left us. He looks excited, like a kid, and I break into a lopsided grin myself. My girl is gorgeous. “She’s perfect,” I confirm, hiding my hands in my pockets.
I keep it to myself that she’s not my girlfriend because his words are like music to my ears. I want her to be mine, for everyone to know. I want to be with her in the open.
She’s my lifebuoy, and I’m drowning without her.
“When Colton found out about my pregnancy, he promised to help me. And you should know how he is if you two are so close—if he promises something, he does everything in his power to make it happen.” She smiles at me, her shoulders relaxing.
“If I wanted to be Mrs. Thompson so much,” Helen says as I swing the door open, “I would’ve chosen the son, not the father. He’s a stallion in bed.” “You’re sick,” I tell her and slam the door behind me.
“You’re so charming, Little Miss Sarcasm.”
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to the Colton Motherfucker Thompson Effect.
He steps closer and gradually lowers himself to his knees. “Please, let me taste you.”
“Ava, please…” I snap my eyes open, staring at him through clouded vision. I pull out my soaked fingers and press them to my clit, spreading my legs wider. “Please, let me do that. I want to taste you, please.”
“It’s your punishment.”
Our eyes stay locked on each other for a few seconds, but then he abruptly stands up. He storms to his travel bag, grabs a hoodie out of it, and pulls it on. The next thing I know, the door is slamming behind him. I’ve never seen a sex-deprived Colton, and it amuses me.
Ava makes everything better.
I definitely met my match in her. She’s everything I want. She’s my fucking sun, and I revolve around her. Without her, I feel lost, as if the law of gravity isn’t working. I’m freaking Winnie-the-Pooh who can’t stay away from his honey—so why the fuck am I out here in my car?
Who needs nicotine when I have Ava? She’s my own drug, the only one I need.
“Ava? Wake up, baby.” “Colton…” she murmurs sleepily, eyes half open. Wiggling, she turns to face me. “What do you want?” “You,” I say, holding her gaze.
