She had stolen from one of the most dangerous creatures on Earth, a creature so frightening that just imagining him was more scariness than she ever wanted to meet in real life. Now she was almost done. A couple more stops to make, one more meeting with the shithead, and then she could scream for oh, say, a couple of days or so while she figured out where she would run to hide.
“I’m Adela, the owner of Divinus.
The roar was a hundred freight trains, tornadoes, Mount Olympus exploding in a rain of fire and flood.
If she were in a race for her life, that roar was the starter pistol. If God were the referee, He had just shouted Go.
Wyrm, they called him. Monster. Evil. The Great Beast. Dragua. Thus he was named.
Humans in different cultures also had many words for him. Ryu, they called him. Wyvern. Naga. To the Aztecs he was the winged serpent Quetzalcoatl whom they called God. Dragos.
Someone nearby said, “Damn. Did that twee little chick just pull off scary?”
“Whoever made him that mad?” Preston shook his head. “I can’t imagine, but it’s gonna make Judgment Day look like a picnic.”

For all her paleness she was rather jewel-toned. There were the gold highlights in her hair. The cream in her light skin was like pearls. I’m not taking the chance of anything else going wrong. This is a nonstop flight to New York. Thank you for flying Cuelebre Airlines.
North of where we were before. I’m more familiar with the landscape along the coast. I’ll know more when we hit the Atlantic. He gave the equivalent of a mental shrug. I’m more interested in finding out when we are and how much time has passed while we were in the Other land.
That’s Virginia Beach. We’ve got a good couple hours’ flight ahead of us.
“I’m going to be Queen. It’s the scissors-paper-rock game. Queen trumps Wyr warlord asshole.
Realization dawned. He wasn’t being protective. He had almost killed his First because he was jealous.
“Tough,” he told her. He took hold of her shoulders and drew her into his arms. “You have to tell me so I can learn not to do whatever it is I did.”
“A dragon just gave me a piece of jewelry,” she said. She took another swig and handed the bottle back to Graydon. “Have I been added to his hoard?” He shook his head and drank too. “No, cupcake,” he said. “I’m pretty sure you’ve replaced it.”
Such a funny little white dragon. His head was too big for his body. He focused on her, pure, determined love in his beautiful eyes as he wobbled toward her. He couldn’t get his hind legs coordinated with his front. He tumbled to the floor.
