CHAPTER 54
This is an awkward and confusing deviation of style, as Ishmael suddenly switches up his narration style three times in short order to relay a story secondhand. He's telling usthd story of how he told this story, apparently some time after the events of the main story, I guess? Every time I get into a rhythm and flow of reading this book, Melville throws a curveball. That said, the story in this chapter is an entertaining one with still more of the insight into human character that makes Melville worth reading despite his long-windedness.
