In its present developed form, the law code is to be found in the Pentateuch as the Book of Deuteronomy (this name ‘second law’ was provided by Greek translators of the Hebrew scriptures). Significantly the place of its discovery was the Temple in Jerusalem, and the lucky find was made by the High Priest of the Temple.
