Fated Blades (Kinsmen #3)
by
"Aaron Shedlock. The Narrators timbre and voice quality is very nice but the emphasis in sentences seemed always badly placed, making the scenes.. strange and flat. His version of feminine voices also seems near-satirical and just unfitting to specific characters. There may be other genres in which he's perfect, but I couldn't finish this audiobook and will have to read it instead."

Omens (Cainsville, #1)

" Carine Montbertrand. I couldn't finish this book due to the narrator. I found myself so distracted by her version of the characters seeming "off" (particularly male characters) I couldn't pay attention to the plot. I repurchased in kindle and the book (like most of the author's work) was great. This narrator's voice/representation just wouldn't allow a immersive experience in the story for me.

My rating on this book is based on going back and reading it, myself and not the audiobook." See Review |

Frankenstein: Prodigal Son (Frankenstein, 1)
by
" Christopher Lane. Again, the quality of the narrators voice is fine, but it's the tone/emphasis that doesn't fit the book. Lines meant to be horrifying are delivered flat and conversationally, taking away from the effect of the story"

H.P. Lovecraft, The Complete Omnibus Collection, Volume I: 1917-1926
by
"Finn J.D. John. His voice is pleasant but not for horror and adventure genres. In fact, his cadence and accent is so close to Neil Gaiman you could put them in a radio play as siblings. Oddly enough, his narration list is an extensive one in wild adventure from Tarzan to Conan to John Carter. "

The Odyssey
by
"Claire Danes. Audible did a series of professional actor narrations of classics and this was included. I downloaded several and this was the first I tried. Her narration (of an already difficult piece) was very flat and honestly she sounded just like any student in high school reading from a textbook on command of a teacher just trying to keep the class awake. Very flat. Her introduction (written in more modern language to hype up the story) was fine. But the actual translated poem/story was very very robotic."

The Changeling
by
"Victor LaValle. Author narration, which makes me feel conflicted. Loved the book/story but the narration was fairly flat and monotonous. A professional narrator really could have made this a great suspense."

Phoenix Unbound (Fallen Empire, #1)

" Katharine Lee McEwan. She has a lovely voice and does well when "in character" but her overall narration was so slow and sluggish, she seemed bored reading it."
