The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America’s Shining Women
by
"This book is haunting. It's relevant in terms of workers rights, the greed and lack of morality of corporate interests, and the science behind radium poisoning. "

The Feather Thief
by
"This is half science book half crime thriller. It's great for your scientist and non-scientist crew! It tells the tale of a total low-life who steals over 200 birds from the British Museum, for the purpose of ripping them apart for fly-tying. Oof. "

Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants
by
"A beautifully written book about a woman's life and heritage, and how her life has weaved between academic science and her Native American roots, especially describing Indigenous knowledge. She does a really excellent job of giving the reader insight into the point of view of Indigenous science. She also includes snippets of her life. Just really beautiful book."
