"Unlike the "companion" volume, Portraits, this volume is slimmer in every way. The essays are short and would not really benefit from illustration. But there are a couple of points where discussions of Soviet aesthetics or his essay on drawing or White Birds. It would have made for a much nicer volume. Overall, the proiduction quality of Portraits was just really lovely. This is not in that category.
