"Of course this had to make at least the top half of the chart. Lucky carries on from the seven decade long beginnings of the Santangelos, charted in Chances. Starts with a courtcase and our girl Lucky on trial. Features a lot of scenes around Europe and gives a great deal of bang to the buck. "

Her Hollywood Kids novel is a great GREAT expose of the nepotism in Hollywood and the culture of entitlement. Basically sums up why we have people like the Kardashians, even if we never wanted them. Delicious."

"Arguably not one of her best but definitely a novel with some grade A+ scenes and 'The Girl with the Golden Snatch' really takes a lot to beat (again, Jackie on the pulse with the porno chic/Deepthroat context). The opening entry about the wife not knowing her husband was into big tits in the letter was a touch of genius too. Short and sinfully sexy."

This wasn't an invitation, this was a threat.'

A stupendous novel regarding Jackie's first family. The relationship with the Mexican gardener and the bored wife of the chief gangster again demonstrates how well Jackie understands desire and passion. The nearest character to Shirley Valentine and I loved every page of her story."

"Because it was Jackie's first I've given this quick slip of the novel some reverence within this chart. The weird sex scene where everyone was watching the young it-girl in the novel having sex showed that this author had some wacky ways of showing us people's weird kinks. Obviously called revolting by Cartland too, so that's gotta be a good thing for the novel. "

"One of her most well-known novels that actually got made into a film with fellow established stars. Excellent but not quite as iconic as Jackie's original Hollywood Wives tome (I think it was the Elaine Conti's stealing that swung it for me. That or Hudson's 'incest' plot). "

"I still chuckle thinking over the two recurring incidences in this book - one actress showing her breasts in a movie (which pushes her husband over the edge and becomes akin to her cheating on him with every male audience member) and a character who got her start in the flicks by assisting (read as servicing) the studio head honcho. Fairly light faire for Jackie but heaps of fun."

"A Goodreads reviewer: It was great to see Lucky again but the book was too drawn out. The back story on some of the characters was tedious which made the book longer than necessary. Ms Collins fluffed the book a little too much.

Still very readable though."

The Stud (Fontaine Khaled, #1)

by
3.51 avg rating — 2,320 ratings
"In some ways, hysterical writing where the character is made out to be a brainless love machine. In other ways, her most dated novel about a man who basically screws around with a rich married woman. Famously made into the most successful adaptation of a Collins novel featuring her sister (with receipts so good Joan reportedly begged Jackie to produce a sequel stat and J acquiesced pretty quickly. That novel is actually lower than this effort on this chart)

A Goodreads reviewer put it quite well: Not my favorite by far. You have to remember this book was written in the late 60's and so back then this was a book full of freaky sex. Those things are common now.

Terribly worthwhile to read though, chums."

"Actually an excellent book. I just didn't notice it from my lucky dip of Jackie Collins novels. We'd (if you've read this far) say this is actually 26th on the chart. In this finale for Madison she is gunned down in a restaurant when she's just got to LA LA Land - very much a Jackie Collins novel with her 'majorly busy' characters. Taut tension and lots of great, zesty dialogue. Perfection as usual."

"I feel incredibly guilty putting this where I have so let me take a Goodreads reviewer's narrative instead: This was probably my most anticipated book of 2013, and I'm disappointed to say that it fell short of my expectations. So why the five stars? Well I am loath to give a Jackie Collins book below four stars and I definitely do not want to give a book that feature her best creation less than five stars. I did love the book however it was very much a case of 'been there, done that' after having already read all the previous Santangelo books.

- Also, it was super basic and too obviously aimed at teenagers. "
