David Copperfield
by
"Charles Dickens himself has said that he sees his books as his "children" and just as parents love all their children equally they may still have one closest to their hearts. For Dickens, that is "David Copperfield" For me it is simply one of the truest & "richest" books you will ever find. Rich in story telling, truth, art & love. While it still revealed the plight of the poor & transcends classes & cultures."

The Holy Bible: King James Version
by
"This book is called the Living Word" because God will use it to speak LIFE into the human heart. No book has sold more copies, been translated into so many languages and is older than this book. It is the foundation of our Western Culture. Every list compiled used to have the footnote, "except for the Bible" because it was so far ahead of all other books. Now, a hundred books already exist on the list and it takes little, tiny ME to add it? Perhaps a sign we need the Bible more NOW than ever before? I live by it. For me it was not written by Anonymous but by God himself. And currently 1,000,000,000 (that's 1 BILLION) people world wide agree with me!"

Study Bible: NIV
by
"This is the Living Word of God but in modern day English. But what truly sets it apart is it's study aids. The footnotes, Introductions, charts, maps, cross referencing, historical investigations all added to each page. It is the work of TEAMS of men & women working in groups & separately not only to make sure they have an absolutely accurate translation of the oldest versions of the Bible but that all the most current historical data and various religious opinions are added. It took DECADES and many people (praying for Divine Inspiration) before it was finally published. Show me any other book that has been so painstakingly dedicated to finding the truth. If you wish to use it for reference or to know God more intimately, it is equally up to both goals."

Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ
by
"Lew Wallace wrote ONE book in his life. But he spent his LIFE writing it. Since it was first published, from the oldest person to those who had barely begun to read cherished this book. It is an Epic on and Intimate level. The main character goes on a journey that forever changes him and that is what we all search for. And it is told in such an exciting way that people call it a classic for all the right reasons. Wallace uses his talents for writing to glorify God & inspire others. And he accomplished both. Well done, General. Well done."

Byzantium
by
"The problem with adding a Stephen Lawhead book to this "Best Ever" list is trying to chose which of his books is his best. He is an author that has consistently written books that are wonderful. How does one chose? Once a person reads one of his books, they are a hardcore fan for life. But Stephen Lawhead is at the height of his powers when he is NOT restricted by the number of pages. His actual greatest works is his retelling of the King Arthur legend in an entire series of books called the "Pendragon Cycle". All 7 of them are classics and when you put them side by side (in paperback form) you have more than 1 meter of pages. (Thousands of pages) And not a boring one among them. I've often said that next to the Bible, don't take away my Stephen Lawhead books. You will not find someone who has read him that will not make similar fantastic claims. He deserves to be on the Best Ever list. I have humbly chosen 'Byzantium" because it most concisely demonstrates his abilities (in only 1,000 pages!)"

Mere Christianity
by
"No other non-fiction book (next to the Bible itself) reveals the true nature of Jesus and why He has impacted the entire world since He was born in that tiny stable in Bethlehem, 2,000 years ago. This is CS 'Jack' Lewis at the height of his reason and writing "powers". And it may initially seem complex, but he takes the greatest issues ever to face the human race and boil them into a way that even children can understand without once underestimating his readers ability to reason. When I did a search to add this book to the list, it had been published so many times in so many formats, it was impossible to chose which one to add. I picked the one at the top of my search."
