Tiger Gray Carmen wrote: "OMG that book scarred me for life. Not even kidding."

I can certainly see why!

You want one that will seriously scar you for life? The Girl Next Door. That's most disturbing book that I've read. That and Requiem for a Dream. Brrrrrrrr!

message 5: by Tiger (new)

Tiger Gray That's based on Sylvia Likens right? I wish I could unknow that case.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. Even though I made it through the whole book, I sometimes wish I hadn't read it. It still haunts me.

Carmen Thanks (I think...) for the suggestions, Derek!

Willow I have been back and forth considering reading Geek Love for awhile. It sounds somewhat grim. D:

Carmen It's very, very upsetting. People say that about other books, but I mean... really, really disturbing. Seriously. I read it about 10 years ago and I STILL think about it and shudder.

Do you like horrifying books? Some people really do. I had to read it for class or I never would have touched it.

Willow I like horror, but beautiful gothic horror. Mean spirited books bother me. I suspect that's why Geek Love is so upsetting. I was hoping it was a bit of a satire.

Carmen I don't know about mean-spirited. I mean, the main character is a likeable person. But the "bad guy" is a really, really twisted evil sick fuck. And a lot of really sick stuff happens. Like REALLY DEPRAVED shit.

message 12: by Willow (new)

Willow Yikes, I may skip this then. D:

message 13: by Carmen (new)

Carmen Yeah, that might be best. Unless you like the really twisted stuff. I mean, it's a well-written book. Just has a lot of sickness in it.
