Best older hero AND older heroine romance books (the main couple has to be over 40!)

I want more books featuring an older hero / older heroine (from 40 upwards). There are some hot guys out there, i.e. Tate (Sweet Dreams), Luke (Absolution)...

Michele ~ la Smoocherina I invited all of my friends to vote! Just go to the bottom right of screen, where it says "get your friends to vote" Click on it and select "all" in each pages drop down menu instead of "custom".

message 2: by Amanda (new)

Amanda The Book Slayer Great poll! I feel like we are missing someone. Hum. Hopefully it will come to me.

message 3: by Baba (last edited Jun 15, 2012 07:35AM) (new)

Baba Remember: older hero AND older heroine! I think Tack's woman, Tyra, is less than 40. I loved Motorcycle Man and Tack but this book doesn't belong here!

Thanks, babe!

Yep. Tyra's 35, so MM's definitely not for this list.

message 6: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Great poll. Even better that I was able to add new books (about older couples, which I love) to my now toppling over TBR pile. Lol.

message 7: by Michael (new)

Michael Dunellen In Club Shadowlands Jessica is under 30. Their age difference was a part of the plot of Make Me, Sir.

In Nobody's Hero Karla is 25. Their age difference is the driving force behind most of the story.

Rain ~miss kinky knickers~ Hey, what about For You? Isn't February 40 (something)?

message 9: by Amanda (last edited Jun 15, 2012 07:58AM) (new)

Amanda The Book Slayer I was thinking of Sams story from Masters of the shadowlands. It's not out yet, but I believe it is the next one. Sad because he was great in the last book and we met his heroine. Oh well. Good books to come.

message 10: by ~ Becs ~ (new)

~ Becs ~ Nobody's Hero doesn't work - He is 50 but she is only 25.

message 11: by Baba (new)

Baba Becs wrote: "Nobody's Hero doesn't work - He is 50 but she is only 25."

Exactly, Becs. And Motorcycle Man should not be here either.

Baba Kristen wrote: "Great poll. Even better that I was able to add new books (about older couples, which I love) to my now toppling over TBR pile. Lol."

Thanks, Kristen. Ohhhh, I'm sorry. LOL Hey, who's counting anyway??

message 13: by Carin (new)

Carin Wow! Great poll! I'm having trouble even coming up with a book where both the hero and the heroine are both over 40. What about Cal and Violet? Aren't they older? I don't think Club Shadowlands and Nobody's Hero fit on this list as the heroines are both younger. That's what makes their stories. Hmmm...

The hero AND the heroine have to be over 40! Then these books don't belong here. Sorry. Maybe there's a list older hero / younger heroine. There's definitely one the other way round, that's for sure.

Baba Rain wrote: "Hey, what about For You? Isn't February 40 (something)?"

Rain, I think you may be right. I'm not quite sure though. I invited KA too--maybe she's gonna vote...

Yes, I think Sam is about 48. But I don't know how old his heroine will be. Probably over 40 too.

Carin, I think Violet is not yet 40. And you are right the other books don't fit! BTW, Motorcycle Man doesn't fit either. The heroine is too young.

Rain ~miss kinky knickers~ Violet is 35, 36.
And, I just checked - February is 42. (What can I say? I have an OCD of that kind) :)

Linda's age is never specified in

Who was his heroine Mommaseymour?? I totally missed that and I am salivating for Sam's story - happiness is a warm sadist and all that!!

I read she was writing Master Xavier's story next which is her other series.

LOL! Well, Becs, I'm glad someone can understand my troubled OCD life! :)

Thanks, I think I'll keep this look for a while. :)

message 26: by Amanda (new)

Amanda The Book Slayer Thanks Michael for remembering Linda's name. I was unable to look it up at the time. From the sounds of it I think she is at least 40 but she could be younger we will just have to see.

Rain you might be right. I have to double check. I do know that Cherise did say this one her page.

message 57: by Cherise Dec 22, 2011 08:46am
For Linda & Master Sam? I honestly don't have anything figured out yet.

Dammit, I thought I was being really generous giving him a couple of scenes and I'd planned to wind it up there in the auction...then he and Linda just yank that nice sweet ending right away from me. Grrr.

So he'll get a book, but I swear, I'm going to make him suffer for being so obstinate.

message 27: by Amanda (new)

Amanda The Book Slayer Oh I found it. You are right Rain. Master Xavier gets his book first and then Master Sam. Yay!

message 85: by Cherise May 29, 2012 07:43am
Eeks, I missed comments. Sorry, MommaSeymour. Thank you! It looks like Xavier's Dark Haven book will come out at the end of August (tentative), and then it's on to Master Sam. But Loose Id doesn't do ARCs--probably because the epublishing schedule is much quicker than traditional.

Thanks, Katherine! I enjoy trying to show a variety of experience in the lifestyle--and the different ways that people end up creating unique relationships. Then again, since many of my readers are new to BDSM, I tend to have more heroines that follow that trend. But Sally will definitely be fun. Her habit of critiquing a Dom is so...uh, familiar. ;-)

message 28: by Michael (new)

Michael Dunellen Mommaseymour wrote: "Thanks Michael for remembering Linda's name."

"There's an older one on that aisle that might give you a challenge." His voice dropped. "Number ten. Redhead. Linda."

I did remember it, but Amazon Cloud Reader can come in handy as well. :)

message 29: by Amanda (new)

Amanda The Book Slayer yeah I was playing with my kids outside. when that happens I am lucky to be able to type anything in my iphone let alone look up a name. ;o) I will have to remember amazon cloud reader.

Thanks Michael. I deleted it. I added it before the over 40 specification. :)

message 31: by Cora (new)

Cora I'm afraid I've only read Outlander...
But now I have a lot TBR!!!
Thank you!

message 32: by Duchess Nicole (new)

Duchess Nicole Gosh, I've only read like three of these! Y'all are killing my tbr. Great idea for a list, though. I see someone is pimping the Kaylea Cross again *sigh* Another author.

Michele ~ la Smoocherina The Outlander? She's 27 and he's 22 or 23. Maybe book 2?

Michele ~ la Smoocherina I can't delete the books, Baba. I deleted my vote on Club Shadowlands. Can you delete, since you created the poll? I'm sorry, the over 40 specification for both characters wasn't there when I voted.

message 35: by Michael (new)

Michael Dunellen I just noticed that I missed something further down the page:

Well, how was he about to be about his business? Sam wondered, studying Kim's friend. Number ten was an older woman, probably midforties, but one of those who only got lusher -- erotically softer -- as she aged. Her chinlength hair had been curled back in a smart style, showing some silvering in front of her ears.

message 36: by Amanda (new)

Amanda The Book Slayer Yes! They would count if the book was already out. lol

Booklover, Indianapolis In Robin Schone's books, often the hero/heroine are in their 40s. In Scandalous Lovers (The Men and Women's Club, #1) by Robin Schone the heroine is 45 and the hero is 47. In the anthology Fascinated by Bertrice Small her story A Man and a Woman features a 48 year old widow and a 53 year old eunich (really great story)

Actually, the comment from 40 upwards was there from the beginning but I specified the title later on when I saw that some books were on the list that didn't fit. Sorry, Michele.
Well, I just checked this page and I cannot find any button to delete the book. Maybe I could ask Lisa Kay or Dhes. They are the experts here.

message 39: by Baba (new)

Baba Cora wrote: "I'm afraid I've only read Outlander...

LOL You're welcome, Cora. Outlander (the first book) does not fit either. The hero/heroine are waaaay too young.

Yes, Nicole, I had to add Kaylea's Absolution. The main couple is seriously hot--Luke is sexy as all get out! LOL

message 44: by Sunny (new)

Sunny Does it say something that this list is harder to compile than others? Not enough of these kinds of books!

Gone With the Wind

How old was Scarlett at the end of the book? Was she 40 yet or only about 35? She was 16 at the start when she got married and then she had 3 husband's and 3 children over what period of time??

message 47: by Baba (new)

Baba Sunny wrote: "Does it say something that this list is harder to compile than others? Not enough of these kinds of books!"

That's one reason I created this list, Sunny. There are not enough good romance books out there featuring an older hero AND an older heroine.

Shawna I added Mari Carr's "Do Over" to the list! It's one of my favorite H/h 40+ romances!

I think that is why I like KA so much. I'm not sure I paid very much attention to the ages before unless it was relevant to the story. I absolutely took note in Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2) by Kristen Ashley because I could relate Lauren's character in so many ways. I'm looking forward to adding to my TBR mountain from this list! *Happy Reader*

Shawna, I was not sure anymore if the heroine was over 40. This is a very sweet short read--loved it too. :-)
