It makes me wonder sometimes why I love it, it has a horrible ending from what I remember... I might put it on my read again shelf, it has been a while!
Oh I couldn't agree with you more. I have so many dog-eared pages in that book and I would pull it out in conversations at times to reference. It is eerie how much of it has come to pass. One of my favorites:“The best books... are those that tell you what you know already.”
― George Orwell, 1984
It is indeed a good quote - I must be tired, I looked at the quote and thought: 'but Orwell was long dead by 1984??' duuhhh!I'm looking forward to reading it again now, it has been many years since I read it and its strange how perceptions change as we age. I'm guessing next time round I will find it darker and more familiar!
LOL That is funny. Classic dystopian novels are wonderful for that very reason. I am sure the longer time passes since they were published, the more of the story we will see in real life. What we read years ago will show more now than it did then. Like Fahrenheit 451, there is a lot in that book that can be found in present day. But I do like that despite their darkness, there is always some light found in them as well. HA! Maybe not 1984 as much though there at the end.
