Mockingbird
by
"My personal favorite at the moment, but odds are it won't get much if anything. At most, I hope for an Honor."

The Boneshaker (The Boneshaker #1)
by
"Good things are being said. Kids need more steampunk anyway, and this book just seems like award-material to me."

Countdown (The Sixties Trilogy, #1)
by
"A LOT of good things are being said already. Does the format make the story, though? That's what they're saying. Let's wait and see."

What Happened on Fox Street (Fox Street, 1)
by
"Dark horse candidate? Like "Mockingbird" this divides people, but professional reviews are largely positive and those that love it really love it. I'm dying to read it."

A Nest for Celeste: A Story About Art, Inspiration, and the Meaning of Home (Celeste, #1)
by
"Possible Honoree, but is there enough love for it? I think no, but hey, I've been wrong before."

Out of My Mind (Out of My Mind, #1)
by
"This may very well out-Schneider "Mockingbird." I like Sharon M. Draper, so I wouldn't mind so much. Though it may just get an Honor..."

The Night Fairy
by
"Seems to me that the Committee rarely awards previous winners these days, though..."

They Called Themselves the K.K.K.: The Birth of an American Terrorist Group
by
"I really liked Bartoletti's Honoree book "Hitler Youth." Usually one non-fiction slips through to the committee. Could it be this one?"

Ubiquitous: Celebrating Nature's Survivors
by
"Caldecott and Newbery recognition in only two years? Could be, but it does have some stiff competition and its shortness works against it."
Kim
rated it 4 stars

Betti on the High Wire
by
"There is some disturbing subtext that others have commented on, but it could be a definite dark horse candidate because the Newbery loves serious issues. At any rate, it sounds pretty good."

Turtle in Paradise
by
"Holm's got two honor books already, though, but they were excellent books. Hard to say, though."

The Red Umbrella

"I don't know a lot about this one, but it could be a dark horse as well."

The Water Seeker
by
"This author is long overdue for ALA recognition, but this book does not sound particularly interesting."

A Tale Dark & Grimm (A Tale Dark & Grimm, #1)
by
"Oooh, this one sounds really good. But it comes out pretty late in the year and that rarely bodes well. Everyone who's read it loves it, though. I'm guessing VERY dark horse."

Touch Blue
by
"Lord's "Rules" is a favorite of mine, but I don't know about this one's award chances. At any rate, I'm giving it a go."

Keeper
by
"I greatly enjoyed "The Underneath," so naturally this appeals to me, but who knows?"

The Kneebone Boy
by
"Mmm, dark horse. This one's getting a lot of raves, but it's not out yet. Much anticipated by me."

Only two books on here got anything. I forgot to vote for Heart of a Samurai even though I was aware of it...
