"Very fun, exciting book by an author I love (we also loved the Artemis Fowl series by Colfer). I loved this one especially because it's like Count of Monte Cristo for a younger and less patient reader. Adventure galore, set in 1890s Ireland (in an alternate but not VERY different world, kind of an alternate history.)"

"Nation is an AMAZING book, for kids who can handle the tragic opening. Two survivors figuring out how to proceed with life, but it's really about their relationship. Not a "discworld" book--the long series that Pratchett is best known for. Funny but lots of sadness, and lots of joy. Has a "Treasure Island" kind of vibe."
