"Adrian Goodlove, the dirty, fabulously British impotent conceded zipless fuck, is the perfect and obnoxious sparring partner in Jong's narcissistic yet compelling novel about love, therapy and work during the liberated '70s. (Add air quotes as desired...)"

"Marley Mantello, the artist whose ego knows no boundaries (nor does his pretentiousness or his sense of demented entitlement), makes this book worth reading. Even though he only appears in three of the short stories of the book consists of. That's an achievement!"

"It is possible to scientifically calculate who actually is the most despicable of all the nasty characters in this gothic classic. Study after study has concluded that the ancient, bitter and righteous old (un)handy man Joseph (mysteriously he seems to lack a last name) is on par with Idi Amin on the General Evilness Checklist - and I love every grouchy inch of him! His incomprehensible grunts still convey how thoroughly bitter and misanthropic Joseph is. Kudos!"
