The list must include only books which feature texts by authors born in the Netherlands:
- The place of birth must be located within the current borders administered by the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
- The books have to feature texts, rather than being fully authored by a writer. All primary authors and contributors are therefore eligible for inclusion. Translators are allowed, as long as they have additional texts featured in the book (such as a translator's note, or an introduction). As the focus is on writers, illustrators should not be included.

Authors born in Belgium should be added to this list: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...

But I think it's an artificial divide.
It's the same language (more alike than American and British English)
No one here in Belgium or the Netherlands makes the divide. Bookshops, libraries, even literary prizes consider them all the same.

Agreed, but there are other lists on Goodreads that look at Dutch literature irrespective of the author's origin. This list is specific to individuals looking to read books featuring authors from a particular country based on their place of birth.

So I have added books to the Belgian list and included Simenon who was born in Belgium but wrote only in French.
