Bettie I see some non-fiction on this list. Should the list title be more accurately called Books Set In Morocco or is it that the factual has crept on. I only ask because I am interested in Lords Of The Atlas: Morocco And The Rise And Fall Of The House Of Glaoua which I am hoping is pure history.

Yes, I'll rename it. I think I got a bit too "add" happy. Thanks for pointing it out.

I managed to read Lords of the Atlas last week - good solid history but not for the squeamish.
:O)

Stop33 Why is "Brideshead Revisited" on this list? A tiny part of this story is set in Morocco. A tiny part!

I had been wondering about the same thing myself...

message 6: by Roger (new)

Roger Croft The Maghreb Conspiracy, featuring MI6 agent Michael Vaux, is largely set in Morocco. The novel is categorized as a thriller in most compendiums.

message 7: by Joan (new)

Joan Rundo Why is the novel by Ian Rankin in this list? Can't anyone tell the difference between Scotland and Morocco??

message 8: by Capn (new)

Capn If a Librarian could kindly add a record to Bessie Marchant's page, there's a missing book that would fit here. :)

Di, the Dauntless
Bessie Marchant
"Di and her sisters try to support their family's ranch in Western Morocco when there is danger from Arab superstitions and a threat of attack from marauding tribesmen."
London & Glasgow 1950
OCLC: 562107107

It sounds absolutely dated and culturally insensitive, so it will be in good company on this list. ;)

message 9: by Natalie (new)

Natalie D.C. Hi, I'm the author of a poetry chapbook called 'blue pearl' that is set in Morocco. If anyone would be interested in checking it out and possibly voting it for this list, I'd appreciate it! <3

Because the scenes are so evocative of Tangier and the sort of mess the lead character sinks into with his German lover etc.--drugs, drink and, yes, sex [though not explicit!].
R.Croft
