There needs to be yes and no votes so that the whole population can be better represented.

Haha that's funny. Since we "mormons" don't congregate to vote on the best books. Besides, have any of you even read that book? With the right intentions? If you read it looking for excitement and entertainment, you're not gonna find it. It's meant as a way to come closer to God.
Personally, I think The Road should be at number one.

Who are the people that are part of this "generality" that think books are thought to be works of fiction?

I agree. There are some amazing non-fiction books out there.

I'm with you Bruce, anyone who would vote any of the Twilight books as a best book ever is not really a reader.

and yes, paperFlowers, I know its very shocking. I have lost almost all of my faith in this generation of teenagers."
Ok seriously>?< I just don't understand how people can so dislike Twilight, there is nothing particularly objectionable about it... In fact it adheres to many cliche's which occur in so many more books that really if you're going to hate Twilight for those cliche's you should hate every other book as well.

Couldn't agree more.

All in all it's an OK list, but there are definately some key pieces missing, and some on it that shouldn't be there.
By the way, this is just my oppinion. I didn't leave this comment to belittle anyone elses oppinions or reading choices. It's simply what I think, and it's not meant to offend anyone. If it does, I apologise.

The list was: books everyone should read. Mormons are a growing and increasingly important religion on the world stage. If you want to understand people, you need to understand what is important to them. I'd also recommend the Bible, the Qu'ran, the Bhagavad Gita and other texts important to major world religions.

There are plenty of books that I wouldnt consider "the best ever" but there are more people in the world than just me.

seriously, jane austen? errughhh."
what's wrong about Jane Austen's books?

And where is The Shack?"
ur annoyed with the twilight..twilight is the best..dont u think

look carefully...it might be somewhere in the corner..ahahaha..jks
The fact that Twilight is rated as #3 says a lot about this list. And the people on this site. I thought it was called GOODreads?

Apparently a lot of Mormons are on Goodreads. Go figure.

Yes, and I have more of a problem with the Worst Book List than this. People who put gr..."
THANK YOU!!! So 1984 was difficult! So Le Misrables was confusing! SO WHAT. Work through! Talk about it wth people. If people would just try to understand the deeper stories they would get a lot more out of reading.

Endre:Is there a moderator that could eliminate the vulgar comments as above?
I don't see anything wrong with the Book of Mormon being in the list. I don't ..."
i agree. Stop whinning, people. What you're doing is discriminating Mormons and all other who read and enjoyed the book. Everyone who says it shouldn't be on here has not read it, and so does not have the right to comment on it. I haven't read it, and I'm not going to say yes or no to it until I've given it a chance.

can you just accept other people??? i bet if you belong to any religion u wouldnt like it if i got mad at you for liking a quaran or whatever "book" you use. and if you arent a part of any religion then u wouldnt like it if i judged you and said i am sick of people not being mormon just saying thats what you sound like...

y dont you?!"
Yeah, Daniel, if i can't waste my life on the computer why should you get to? :) You get a life jerk.

glad someone agrees!!! :)

Have you read it???

I agree with your Twilight comment. Only now it has moved up! I hate to say it, but it's written like a fan fiction "Mary Sue"--completely and utterly some 30-something's old teenage fantasy, and women are reading it because it is their fantasy, too. Which makes the idea even creepier. She definitely saw Interview With a Vampire as a teenager.
