✽ Friday Night Lights
"Friday Night Lights," is a revision of one of my very first (unnamed) poems, written in high school. I stapled the original loose-leaf in my journal after our break up, then scribbled a bunch of angsty teen thoughts around it.
I was too embarrassed to share that terrible teenage version in my book, so I revised it as an adult.
Both versions are flavored by the wild, grammar-optional spirit of e.e. cummings. I was obsessed with him (still am).
