Kate was born in 1988 in Spokane, Washington. She grew up as a military brat. "Yep, that's the term used for a military kid, or at least it was back in the day," says Kate. She grew up in several states along the way, Idaho being one of her favorites. The final move was to Oklahoma, where she grew to an adult and had two boys. Oklahoma was were she started to learn about poetry in school. She went on to say, "I was about 14 that year and I was learning poetry in class. At first I didn't get it at all because we were covering Haiku's. Soon after we got into the other styles I felt a connection to it. I was hooked!"
