Flaubert is an amazing writer, if you have never read any of his literature this would be a great choice.

I have to say, I found this book terribly difficult to get through. I despised Emma and really didnt think highly of any of the characters. It didnt even hold my interest at all until the world came tumbling down on her. Hope I enjoy the next classic I read much more. But I am told Flaubert has much more interesting work to explore. Maybe down the road...

For whatever reason this did not grip me, though the language was beautiful. I think maybe I was in the wrong mood.
Before I read the book, I knew about the character Madame Bovary. I thought I would enjoy the book way more than I actually did. There are interesting characteristics to her personality, but not enough to really keep me interested in her life.
2006 in my living library. I have the Operah book club edition.
