En pleno siglo XIX, se escribe uno de los mejores ensayos frente (y no contra) la sociedad de consumo, en el que se apuesta claramente por una vida más tranquila y relajada.
Una auténtica delicia.

A very accessible book about a man's thoughts on society as he spent some time living in isolation out in nature. I read it in high school and still remember it pretty clearly. Anyone who enjoys reading would probably like this book, although I wouldn't say it is something that should be read in one sitting. ...more

So much of this book was right on and hauntingly ahead of it's time and immensely spiritual. I can't help but wonder, with how well read Thoreau was, what he would have thought of the Baha'i Writings since many of his philosophies are in tune with them and he revered the Holy Texts of all the World religions. It only got a 4 instead of a 5 because there were some really random rambling parts every once in a while which lost me. I can see why it's a classic and recommend it. ...more

This book intrigued me as a teenager, and I admired the act of simplifying life of unneeded entities. I might reread this book to see if it still resonates with me as it did then.
