I can't believe it took me so long to read this since I love vampire books. I really enjoyed it. I love the diary style story. I can see why it was so popular. And of course, it was nice to have a truly evil vamp for a change.

Bram Stoker is a one hit wonder and now I know why. Don't get me wrong, this is a classic book and the plot is a 4. But the writing is a 2. Totally straightforward and uninteresting with not much character development. The gimmick of having different diary entries narrate the book seemed lazy to me because all of the characters had the exact same voice. So it really seems like it was used to tell a disjointed story. Still a fun read though.

Hands down the best of the vampire stories! A true gothic classic.
