Amazing book. I've heard about it for years but never got around to reading it until now. Not exactly a novel, more like a philosophy book that loosely uses a few characters and situations to express various ideas about people, life, the human experience, etc. Somewhat politically geared, but not so much that you need to know about the time period or region to understand what the author is trying to say. I was really surprised at how much I liked this book. I bought it years ago and just now got around to reading it. The back cover was, for me, completely misleading. I kind of zoned out on a lot of the sex parts and was instead fascinated by the history of Prague and the Czech Republic. The characters in this book go through a great deal of upheaval in their home and it was very interesting to read the effects communism and regime change had on their lives.
