The premise defies suspension of disbelief. Normally, no problem - I'm a sci-fi reader - it's what we do.
Only my veteran disbelief-suspension skills allowed me to survive this. Only my OCD got me through the remaining two.
The Running Man was more plausible. *Logan's Run* was more plausible, -and- better-written. (As we're the two other novels that followed it.). The plot - already not a strong suit - made contortions not often seen outside a Thai...well, never mind, to keep the story on task - k ...more

This was a fairly good book and I can see why people are absorbed by this series. I know because I look forward to reading the other two book, as well.
The concept was interesting with the setting being a rebuilt and alternate western United States. I hope that the author expands on this in the next books, as I suspect that she will.

I really enjoyed this book. I think I may like these books as much as the Uglies trilogy which is saying a lot because I devoured those books.
At first, I thought this was going to turn into Battle Royale and I was going to be bored with it. But it was well-written and quite different. I especially enjoyed the survivalist aspect of it. I kept imagining David Blue (Eli of Stargate Universe) playing the part of Peeta. Luckily, my husband bought me the trilogy for Christmas, so it's on to the next book.

This book is not very good but I couldn't put it down and am now almost finished with the second book in the trilogy. So I guess that means I have to give it at least 3 stars.
