Like most of King's books, this one was full of graphic detail I could have lived without, but it was also incredibly well characterized, and the plot was engaging, if odd at times. ...more

Such rich detail in character. While many people may find the long exhausting passages on each and every person that passes in these pages to be unnecessary, I, again, finally realize the depth that King is willing to go to create a universe unparalleled to many writers. It lives, they breath... I lap it up !!

Continuing the story of Roland the worlds last Gunslinger the narrative of the book moves into much more familiar King territory than the first instalment.

Having caught the Man in Black, Roland wakes to find himself on the edge of the world needing to travel to the centre at which stands the Dark Tower, the axis on which all worlds turn, in order to save everything. On his way he must draw three companions but this is complicated after he is disabled and poisoned by carnivorous crustations.
