I sometimes think people rate classics high because they felt they were supposed to and not because they are a good read. I am trying to read more "classics" and am fairly consistently disappointed. This book was no exception to that. While I found it entertaining at times, I didn't find it captivating or life changing. In fact, it was somewhat difficult and disjointed at times. What a sad world it would be where books are illegal merchandise and they are daily burnt, but even sadder is the fact that most of the public has no desire to read books even if they were legally allowed to. This book was short, but had a very serious message. I really enjoyed it, and it made me picture a world where reading a book was considered breaking the law.

I like this book but it is a little slow-going. And the end wasn't the greatest in my opinion. The message is definitely as relevant today as when it was written though, and I feel that most people would benefit from reading it. ...more
