Unexpectedly Beautiful
I am a fan of Zompoc fiction. But this book was a total surprise. It is less about the ending of one thing, but the beginning of another. The writing is exquisite, a mixture of smart ass crow and the poetry of Nature. I anxiously await my turn at the library to read Feral Creatures, much like ST awaits a long promised bag of Cheetos.

This book almost defies description. So many emotions are in play and the writing is FANTASTIC. It's not for everyone and the reader needs to suspend rational beliefs and just enjoy the story. The crow, who is the narrator, is a foul-mouthed arrogant character you come to love. Heartwarming, hilarious, at times heart breaking, thought provoking, a very unique novel, a pleasure to read!

The events near the end struck me as a stretch and implausible....but then I got thinking..."this is an apocalyptic zombie novel so what is plausible!" Once I reached that understanding the final sequences made more sense!. (You will understand when you read it. Think evolution.) I have learn ...more
