Probaby the only post-apocalypse novel I've read that is more brutal than The Road. This one is often compared to Lord of the Flies and I think that's quite apt.

This is a great little book which probably bares more relevance today than it did when first published in the 50’s. The story concerns the decent of society into barbarism after a virus wipes out all grass based life on the planet (rice, wheat, barley, corn etc) leading to massive food shortages.

Another dark one. How far would you go to protect what is yours? Pretty far or would you give up and roll over?
Story of survival full of a lot of ethical questions and no answers because it does all come down to what you would do to survive. Even the conclusion is a kick in the gut.
