ugh i kinda hated sophie at the end just cuz im all for Team Cal. And Archer may be a hottie or whatvr, but i kinda have a thing for the 'underdog' who dont end up with the girl.
Ergo, i still enjoyed the book, and i think it was more serious towards teh end, as opposed to the first book. And there are lies and more betrayal than Sophie's great-grandmother ...more

Oh. My. Gosh.
This book was sooo good!! Rachel Hawkins can write! She is a Young Adult author who can actually write!Hurray!!
I wouldn't say it's a super fast read, (the only reson I finished it in 24 hours is because I was reading it all day and most of the night).
It's so nice to finally find a series where it isn't all about the romance or the football team captain, or who's going to be the Homecoming Queen, Rachel Hawkins really puts her heart and soul into writting these books, which is real ...more

Am I the only one who finds this installment disappointing or was I having a black-cloud-raining-on-my-parade days when I was reading it?
I really hope it's the latter.
But WAIT! Really, It was the former.
I had a hard time adjusting to its somewhat slower pacing & too-dull scenarios. It was like the series was having a "break" & the characters, somehow, needed to catch-up on some spring cleaning or book a long-awaited vacation leave where they do literally "NOTHING."

Raising Demons (or Demonglass for the USA) is the second installment in the Hex Hall series by Rachel Hawkins. If you have not read the first book please beware the synopsis may reveal some spoilers. Once again I am being lazy and just using the description from good reads, sorry;
Sophie Mercer thought she was a witch. That was the whole reason she was sent to Hex Hall, a reform school for delinquent Prodigium (a.k.a. witches, shape-shifters, and faeries). But then she discovered the family secre ...more
