Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins is book one in the young adult Hex Hall series. In it Sophie Mercer has only known she is a witch for 3 years. Her non-magical mother could not tell her about the magical world and she got into a scrapes along the way. Hex Hall is a fun book that I really enjoyed it. It has a Harry Potter feel to it among other things so it might not be the most unique book out there but I think it stands on it's own pretty well. I really enjoyed the main character Sophie, it's always good to have an interesting narrator. The other characters were just as interesting as well. The book has nice amount of action (although the author seems to struggle describing action scenes) and mystery. But like with a lot of YA books, I wasn'
