"Dezesseis Luas" é uma história sobre conjuradores, seres com poderes mágicos, um mundo fantástico novo para mim, nunca havia lido nada sobre conjuradores. A fantasia da história de Margaret Stohl e Kami Garcia foi algo que me surpreendeu bastante. A magia dos conjuradores e das criaturas desse universo fantástico foi explorada de uma maneira intensa, mas nem um pouco cansativa, o que me fez gostar bastante do livro. O fato de se passar em uma pequena cidade sulista estadunidense é crucial para o desenvolvimento da história. A sociedade de Gatlin é bem fechada e preconceituosa com tudo aquilo que chega de fora, todos sabem de tudo que acontece na vida de todos na cidade, e achei isso muito interessante, pois é verossímil. A história é narrada pelo Ethan, e acho que as autoras acertaram em cheio na escolha do narrador, a narrativa é engraçada e flui de uma maneira muito gostosa de ler.

"Sei que parece um monte de lixo. Mas nunca morei em nenhum lugar por muito tempo. Nunca tive a mesma casa ou o mesmo quarto por mais de alguns anos, e algumas vezes sinto que nessa corrente estão pedaços de mim, e eles são tudo que tenho."

Gostei bastante dos personagens. Os personagens secundários também foram bem desenvolvidos, mas gostaria de saber um pouco mais sobre a família de Lena, pois alguns personagens foram descritos de maneira um pouco superficial, porém isso não me incomodou muito. Conhecemos mais profundamente Ethan, uma vez que ele é o narrador, e temos contato com seus pensamentos e sentimentos. Ele ama livros, romances e me fez rir muito em várias partes do livro. Lena, a garota com quem Ethan sonha, é uma personagem muito interessante, que foi me conquistando ao longo do livro. Ela é muito peculiar e ao mesmo tempo em que é uma personagem forte, mostra suas vulnerabilidades, seus sonhos e seus medos. Outros personagens que merecem destaque são Macon, o tio de Lena, conhecido como o recluso da cidade por quase nunca ter sido visto fora de sua mansão. Ele é uma figura, e a escolha do ator para interpretá-lo no filme (Jeremy Irons) foi a melhor do elenco, em minha opinião. Link também, o melhor amigo de Ethan é muito engraçado, um amigo leal que sempre está de olho nas garotas, e nunca deixa de estar ao lado de Ethan, mesmo correndo o risco de ser duramente julgado por isso. Uma das personagens mais interessantes na minha opinião é Amma, a mulher que cuidou sempre de Ethan, principalmente depois da morte de sua mãe, sempre supersticiosa e super protetora. Ridfley, prima de Lena também é uma personagem interessante, será interpretada por Emily Rossum, uma das minhas atrizes favoritas.

"Havia apenas dois tipos de gente em nossa cidade. 'As burras e as empacadas', que foi como meu pai afetuosamente classificara nossos vizinhos. 'Os que estão condenados a ficar ou são burros demais para ir embora. Todos os outros acham um meio de fugir.' (...) eu mal podia esperar para ir embora daqui."

Adorei o livro, a leitura foi um pouco lenta no começo, mas a história é maravilhosa, a fantasia bem construída e interessante. Gostei bastante dos personagens e o desenrolar da história ocorreu de maneira fluida. Foi um dos livros que mais gostei em 2012 e estou bem ansiosa para a estréia do filme, em fevereiro, apesar de discordar de muitas escolhas do elenco. Recomendo para quem goste de fantasia, magia, e um romance leve e fofo.

I didn't expect this book to be this good. Sure, I've read some positive reviews but so many books have positive reviews and I still didn't like them. Well, this one I did like.

I was sceptic at first because it was told in boy's POV but it turned out to be a perfect choice. It was spectacular! I loved Ethan and his devotion to Lena and how he never gave up even when she wanted him to go. And Lena was annoying at times but I still loved her.

So what hasn't been said about Beautiful Creatures? It's a pretty popular book, and one that I've been wanting to read for awhile now. I really like the writing style, the flow, and the beautiful, lush descriptions of the South. I think the story is strong and equally as compelling. The characters are fierce and unique. It gets compared to Twilight and True Blood, and I can see why some people would say that.

Didn't think I'd like this as much, but for the most part, I'm pretty surprised with the effort of book 1. Liked the fact it's told in a guy's point of view instead of the girl's like many YA paranormal/fantasy reads typically does. Plus it didn't annoy and disappointed me like one *coughs* Twilight, did long ago. I did not find the main character in Lena to be all Mary Sue-like or shallow. I really enjoyed this book. It's very descriptive and a mixture of genres. 16 year old Ethan Wate lives in the small country town of Gaitlin where nothing ever changes. It works for a while but you can't use the book without giving something in return and Genevieve gave the fate of her and her family. She went to the Dark. On the 16th moon of the 16th year the will decide the fate of every Duchannes girl choosing if they go to the Light or the Dark. Coincidentally people try to force the Lena & Ethan apart as well just like their ancestors before them . The people of Gaitlin don't take nicely to strangers. As Ethan mentions. His mother wasn't treated very nicely before she died. Way to much kissing in this book in my opinion. But Lena and Ethan are an amazing couple. They try to find a way to break the curse before Lena's birthday but struggle. On the the journey they learn heaps of dark secrets and are put in a lot of danger. Nothing is as it seems. On Lena's birthday she finds out she can claim herself. If she goes Dark all thr light casters in her family will die. if she goes Light all the dark caster would die including her Uncle since he's a Incubus. She fights her mother Sarafine Hunting her Uncle Macon's brother and her cousin Larkin. All dark creatures. She looses Ethan and has no choice but to use The Book Of Moons to save him. But she gave up her uncle Macon Ravenwood's life. In the end she dosen't get claimed or claims herself. She'll have to wait until her 17th birthday. But one of her eyes are green and the other gold. The characters your supposed to hate makes you hate them. The characters in this book your supposed to like makes you like them.
I especially liked Ethan's best friend Link cause he was just so loyal and nice. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. This was a good book, but a little too long and confusing and in-depth for my liking. I do like long books but this one had a little too much going on. The last 150 pages were really good though.
