A great follow-up and, once again, I read it really quickly, roughly 24h, because I just couldn't put it down.
I think the first book was better than this one, but that is most likely due to the fact that this is a little more compact and building up to the next book. It is definitely still among the best books I've read so far.

This book wasn't all that great. The first book was full of action and suspense at every corner, and this one was just...lacking.
I mean, I enjoyed City of Ashes, don't get me wrong. I liked seeing Clary, Simon, Jace, Isabelle, Alec, Magnus, and Luke again. I liked getting more insight into some of the things that happened in the Shadowhunter world.
It's just that there wasn't enough MEAT in this book. A lot of the Clary's introspection has to do with "OHMYGOD JACE!!!" or "OHMYGOD SIMON!!!" I'm ...more

There was something in this book that kept me turning the pages, but on the other hand I felt like "Do I have to finish this?". It wasn't mind-blowing. An enjoyable reading, with some incredibly unremarkable chapters.
