God. What a story. I read this book in less than 12 hours. That's a record. Seriously. I was sucked right into Clay and Hannah's story. From the word go. I finally went to sleep at 4 am in tears. I woke up and picked up where I left off. This book was so heartbreaking. For Clay. For Hannah.

This is a must read for teens and those that've been in Hannah's situation. I've known a few people who went through this...and that made it all the more real, gritty, raw and hard to swallow.

So good! If any of you know of a friend who's thinking of it, just try to stop them. Do things with them. One of my teachers friends was going to end his life(friend not teacher) @ 20. Teacher did things with him, like going to Niagara Falls. Don't just sit there and do nothing! Do something! ...more

Thirteen Reasons Why
This book has been recommended to me so many times, so I knew I’d read it eventually. I reserved it at my local library (which, conveniently enough, is also my workplace). However, I was reading several books by the time it came in so it got put on my shelf and more-or-less forgotten about.

When I realised it was overdue (only by a day or two, don’t stress) and two reservations on, I thought I better prioritise and see if I could get through it in a couple of days.

I started re Thirteen Reasons Why
This book has been recommended to me so many times, so I knew I’d read it eventually. I reserved it at my local library (which, conveniently enough, is also my workplace). However, I was reading several books by the time it came in so it got put on my shelf and more-or-less forgotten about.

When I realised it was overdue (only by a day or two, don’t stress) and two reservations on, I thought I better prioritise and see if I could get through it in a couple of days.

I started reading it when I got home from work at 6pm. I read it while I cooked tea; while I ate tea; while my boyfriend watched Top Gear. Then at 9:30pm I had to stop because he needed Girlfriend Support. I picked it back up this morning and read it while I was getting ready for work.

It’s now on its way to the next person. Much like Hannah’s tapes.

Thirteen reasons why is a one of the most powerful books I’ve ever read. It grips you from the first few lines and doesn’t let go … ever.

It’s helped along by the simplistic writing – and really, how many books can you say that about? The short sentences from Clay are completely in tune with how he’s feeling. No wishy-washy paragraphs about feelings here. And the book is better for it.

Even the idea behind the novel – a package of thirteen tapes with no return address appears on Clay’s doorstep, addressed to him. On the tapes is the voice of Hannah, a girl who committed suicide a few weeks earlier. She explains there are thirteen reasons – people – why she killed herself; if you received the tapes, you’re one of them.

I can’t even describe how this novel affected me. As someone who suffered depression and a suicide attempt … it’s powerful. Every teenager should read it. It should be in the curriculum at high schools, or maybe even upper primary (middle school). It shows the snowball effect of bullying and what might seem virtually innocent to the person doing the harassment can often be devastating for the victim. ...more

I've been wanting to read this book for about two years now and I tried reading it online once and I just.. Well,to be quite honest I got bored and dropped it. I then found this book at a local Goodwill after finding out a lot of booktubers said you can find great books there and in good condition. So I looked into it and I found this lovely thing.

This book was one of those books I'd heard tons of people read and saw reviews everywhere on blogs and youtube. I heard of it being made into a movie and I knew I had to pick it up. ( Although, I'm not sure it's being made anymore. I think it was shelved.)

This book follows around the average-joe of the school, Clay Jensen. Who had this crush on this new girl that came to school Hannah Baker. Who had commit suicide two weeks prior. The book is the aftermath of her actions and the people around her's. It has flashbacks,well,not really 'flashbacks' but Hannah telling you the story in her own words. Through tapes.

After Hannah commits suicide she then sends out a set of tapes two people. These people who the tapes are sent to are somehow a small or big part in her ending her life. Although,this book isn't the best book I've come across I find myself needing more and more. It was interesting to know how each person can do something small that can impact another person and their actions which then can affect you.

I gave this book a 3 out of 5 but I feel it's more 3.5 because, It's interesting even though their are parts I feel could have been more detailed and needed to be address that didn't make sense to me without an explanation.

I felt like he knew things in the beginning of the book and I was right but the thing that would've made much more sense would have been why he was the one who got the second set of tapes.
Clay and him both think maybe because she got the tape recorder from him but I personally feel it would have made more sense if it was something more..I don't know dramatic.

I just wish that was different how he played apart. I wish he was on that list for something it could have made the story more well rounded. I also find the fact that Bryce raped Jessica bullshit. Whoa..hold on,wait before you jump on me. I mean,the way the book addressed it made me really upset.

Hannah saw this girl,her ex-friend,getting raped and she didn't do anything. I get it,she was hiding in the closet and didn't want the same to happen to her. Moment of the truth type of moment to me here. To be honest,she could have at least called the cops after she left the party or when she got home. She didn't and that is just ridiculous to me.

Even though this book had some downfall its setting and the plot overall won me over. I can't wait to read Jay Asher's other books and I plan to do so very soon. ...more

Hannah, the girl who committed suicide due to a string of events, leaves behind 7 cassette tapes for those who she said its the cause of her suicide. Clay Jensen, who got the tapes one day out of the blue, start listening to those tapes and trying to figure out what part did he play in Hannah's suicide.

After listening (*or me reading it*) to Hannah's tapes, my first thought was, "Is there no one in that school good or kind?". I know (view spoiler) ...more

Great for an audiobook since Clay is listening to the tapes Hannah is speaking on to tell her reasons for suicide. I don't know if I had read the book if it would have been quite as interesting. ...more
