Shelves: ya, guilty-pleasure

I was very hesitant to read this because I disliked the cover. A lot. But a coworker and I decided to read it as our next YA series that we could discuss over lunch. I ended up enjoying the story, but I am still hesitant to award that lovely third star. It has the usual YA cliches and story arcs (awkward heroine with a hard-to-define "special" quality, the love triangle, and the hidden world of magic), but that is what I love about YA series! A Few Thoughts Before The Fandom Freaks Out On Me Over Rating:
Let me start by saying that I am a Cassandra Clare fan. City of Bones was a reread for me, and this time around I wasn't amazed by it. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book as a whole and I would reccomend the series but it has a rough beginning.
