"Κάραβαλ", ένα βιβλίο για το οποίο άκουγα πολλά αλλά ποτέ δεν είχα διαβάσει μέχρι τώρα. Και επιτέλους μου δόθηκε η ευκαιρία και το διάβασα. Ένα έχω να πω ότι με άφησε με πολύ καλές εντυπώσεις καθώς ανυπομονώ να πιάσω τη συνέχεια.

Η ιστορία μας αφορά δύο αδελφές τις Σκάρλετ και Ντονατέλα Ντράγκνα, κόρες του κυβερνήτη Ντράγκνα. Ενός πολύ κακού ανθρώπου (επιεικής ο χαρακτηρισμός αυτός). Αυτές οι δύο αδελφές πέρασαν δύσκολα χρόνια κοντά στον πατέρα τους. Κλεισμένες, ελεγχόμενες και κακοποιημένες. Α "Κάραβαλ", ένα βιβλίο για το οποίο άκουγα πολλά αλλά ποτέ δεν είχα διαβάσει μέχρι τώρα. Και επιτέλους μου δόθηκε η ευκαιρία και το διάβασα. Ένα έχω να πω ότι με άφησε με πολύ καλές εντυπώσεις καθώς ανυπομονώ να πιάσω τη συνέχεια.

Η ιστορία μας αφορά δύο αδελφές τις Σκάρλετ και Ντονατέλα Ντράγκνα, κόρες του κυβερνήτη Ντράγκνα. Ενός πολύ κακού ανθρώπου (επιεικής ο χαρακτηρισμός αυτός). Αυτές οι δύο αδελφές πέρασαν δύσκολα χρόνια κοντά στον πατέρα τους. Κλεισμένες, ελεγχόμενες και κακοποιημένες. Αλλά πάντα είχαν η μία την άλλη και στηρίζονταν η μία στην άλλη. Δεν μπορούσαν να κάνουν και διαφορετικά.

Τώρα σαν προσωπικότητες είναι τελείως διαφορετικές. Η Σκάρλετ, ως μεγαλύτερη, ακολουθεί πάντα τον ασφαλή δρόμο και αυτά που γνωρίζει. Δεν παραστρατεί και δε ξεφεύγει, πάντα σοβαρή και σε επιφυλακή. Η Ντονατέλα, παράτολμη, δεν θέλει να ακολουθήσει τις πεπατημένες και θέλει όσο τίποτα άλλο να φύγει μακριά.

Θα τους δοθεί η ευκαιρία να φύγουν μακριά και τα βήματά τους θα τις οδηγήσουν στο Ίσλα ντε Σουένος, το νησί του θρυλικού Λέτζεντ που εκεί διοργανώνεται το Κάραβαλ. Η Ντονατέλα έχει απαχθεί και τώρα η Σκάρλετ έχει το καθήκον να βρει και να σώσει την αδελφή της. Θα καταφέρει να τη βρει και να διατηρήσει σώας τας φρένας της; Γιατί το Κάραβαλ είναι ένας χώρος γεμάτος ψευδαισθήσεις και παιχνίδια του μυαλού και δεν είναι να εμπιστεύεσαι κανέναν ή όχι;

Ένα βιβλίο YA, fantasy, με λίγες δόσεις ρομαντισμού τόσο όσο. Δίνει vibes Αλίκη στη Χώρα των Θαυμάτων και είναι γεμάτο με μαγεία και ψευδαισθήσεις. Τίποτα δεν είναι αυτό που φαίνεται. Περιπετειώδες βιβλίο που μέσα από τη γραφή της η συγγραφέας καταφέρνει να σε ταξιδέψει.

To be honest, my actual thoughts about this book is just as confusing as what was real/an illusion in this book. Like, did I love it? Did I hate it? I don't know! *Insert hysterical laughing and crying here.*

AAAAAAAAAnyways, back to what I thought about this book, or what I thought I thought about this book (wow does that sentence even make sense? Meh let's just go with it.). So basically, this book revolves around Scarlett (MC) and her sister Tella who is such a confusing character tbh. Basica To be honest, my actual thoughts about this book is just as confusing as what was real/an illusion in this book. Like, did I love it? Did I hate it? AAAAAAAAAnyways, back to what I thought about this book, or what I thought I thought about this book (wow does that sentence even make sense? Meh let's just go with it.). So basically, this book revolves around Scarlett (MC) and her sister Tella who is such a confusing character tbh. Basically, Scarlett wants so badly to go to Caraval to escape her dick of a father that has a sick pleasure of beating his daughters. What a dumbass. But it seems like her scum of a father has arranged a marriage between her and this mysterious asshat referred to as the "Count". Basically, Scarlett's dream is to get married to this guy she's never met so that she can escape her son of a bitch of a dad so she could protect her sister. Anywho, Scarlett receives tickets in the mail to attend Caraval, but Scarlett being a pussy doesn't want to go. In the end, she is basically forced to go against her will because of her sister and the mysterious Julian (sailor dude that appeared out of nowhere and we come to find out later one, he's not just some dumbass sailor....). So ya, it ends up that Tella is the main course of Caraval this year since she's been kidnapped and it's Scarlett's duty to save her sister! (Of course lol.)

Well, all this to say, I don't know how I felt about this book. One thing for sure, I know how I felt about the girls' ass of a father. He can go rot in hell that dipshit. (Wow sorry for all the swearing lol.) Honestly, I think I spent half of the book utterly confused because I couldn't tell what was real or not and if this was the purpose of it all since we were reading through Scarlett's POV and she must have been confused out of her marbles as well because fuck how the hell can you tell what is real and what is not when magic is involved. I would have just crawled into a corner and cried because I would have been so overwhelmed by all these possibilities of reality and illusions.

Other than being confused out of my mind, I did enjoy the whole storyline tbh. Like it's a really cool concept and even though my real rating for this book is 3.5 stars, I will definitely read the next book even though I'll probably still remain as confused as [book:Caraval|27883214. Anyways thanks for reading this trainwreck of a review. I am writing this on basically no sleep lol. #storyofmylife ...more
