I initially didn't plan on writing any reviews for this series, but I feel impelled to after finishing Scarlet. What resulted in me giving this installment two stars, when just a few days ago I gave Cinder four? Well, two reasons, mainly: Scarlet and Wolf. I didn't loathe their characters at the start, but as the story progressed (and a story we've all seen countless times before, I might add), I found them near-insufferable.

I really wasn't prepared for more split narratives and separate plots i I initially didn't plan on writing any reviews for this series, but I feel impelled to after finishing Scarlet. What resulted in me giving this installment two stars, when just a few days ago I gave Cinder four? Well, two reasons, mainly: Scarlet and Wolf. I didn't loathe their characters at the start, but as the story progressed (and a story we've all seen countless times before, I might add), I found them near-insufferable.

I really wasn't prepared for more split narratives and separate plots introduced, especially when I found the new characters (dare I say?) boring. I was all gung-ho for Cinder and Kai this time around. All I really hoped for was a complete continuation of their story. But, no. We're thrown Scarlet and Wolf, whose relationship is all kinds of by-the-book cliché.

What irked me the most was how utterly forgiving all the characters were when all was said and done. They remained loyal to those they "love" and those that have hurt and lied and turned their backs on them. Seriously, Kai has known Cinder, what...less than a week? And he's ready to justify her lies and deceit (although, of course, we as readers know a different story, Kai does not). He still has some weird blind faith/attraction to a girl he barely knows. The same can be said about Scarlet. Here, I will limit my rant in a spoiler tag: (view spoiler)

I know I should expect the same with the next book, Cress, but a little part of me is hoping beyond hope we'll get back to Cinder being the ultimate focus. I doubt I can withstand more POVs from characters I couldn't care less about. ...more

I 100% loved this book..Even better then the first one. Scarlet has more action in it but not toooo much romance but enough to make a girl happy. anyways you get a lot of question from the 1st book ( Cinder ) Answered in this book. I really enjoyed Scarlet and Wolf. and can't wait to get my hand on the 3rd book. ( HURRY and come out already ) ...more
