I've read many books about WWII, and this is the second one about occupied France, (Sarah's Key and also about the French resistance. It is a beautiful story about family, love, and profound bravery. It also portrayed the many sides of the Nazi occupation, and the fear and horrific cruelty more than many books. The book starts with an old woman who decides to go to a reunion in Paris to celebrate "The Nightingale" - it isn't until the end that you realize which of the sisters it is. Dianne and I ...more
