What Members Thought

Local town girl gets entangled with boys from the local prep school. Throw in some occult: her mother and aunts can foretell the future. The preppies all have issues, but their leader Gansey seeks the final resting place of a long dead European king, whom he believes is buried in the Virginian hills, having travelled on a ley line. Too long and wandering, and Blue's interest in more than one boy is disturbing. I liked what Stiefvater did with Noah -- highlight of the book for me.

There is no doubt Maggie can write a plot! I was captivated through this entire story. The characters were well thought out the the narrative through mulitple perspectives was so flawless and added immensely to the story. I can't wait to read the next one.

I totally lied about finishing this book. Now that all the books are out, I'm going to binge!
Finally (and genuinely) finished this book! I'm really glad I gave it another try, because the first time I was in an awful reading slump. Now that I've given this book a fair chance, I cannot wait to read the rest of the series. Stiefvater's writing is as intricate and complicated as her characters; a much better series so far than her popular Shiver books. ...more

4.5/5 stars!
I loved this book! I can't believe I didn't pick this up earlier...what's wrong with me? Honestly..
Anyway, this book had it all. Magic. Adventure. Mystery. Murder. Romance (though not very much--which I liked, because romance shouldn't take precedence over this beautiful story).
The only thing that made me mark this down a .5 point, was the fact that it was hard to tell who was narrating the chapters until a page or so in. Also, the last chapter was a little confusing to me, but I st ...more

Blue Sargent is your average, ordinary 16 year-old teenager, except that she has a unique extra-sensory ability. She can “make things louder” or amplify another person’s psychic talent. For her mother and her psychic clan, this ability can come in handy when they are doing psychic readings. Blue and Maura live in Henrietta, Virgini ...more
